We're looking forward to another fun and successful season for MAA Girls Basketball! There are four team age groups, as follows (the league plan is to have a Christmas holiday double elimination tournament from 12/15-12/17, a 9-10 game regular season schedule, and a post-season tournament for these four age groups):
Minors - ages 9-10 (birth year 2007-08)
Intermediate - ages 11-12 (birth year 2005-06)
Juniors - ages 13-14 (birth year 2003-04)
Seniors - ages 15-18 (birth year 1999-2002)
There is also an Instructional League for girls age 7-8. To figure out the correct division, use your child's age as of December 31, 2017. Please note - the only scenario allowed in the league for "playing up" a division is for the Intermediate age to play up as a Junior (this move subject to an assessment in person by the Chesterfield Girls Basketball League president.)
Registration for the 2017-18 season must be initiated online (click here --> Register Online) or click the Register link at the top of the page. Registration will run from now thru Sunday, November 5, 2017. The registration fee is $140 for ages 9-18. Please register early - depending on number of coaches and efforts to keep roster sizes no larger than 10 girls, we may have to find other associations for those registering later during the open period.
The registration fee for the Instructional League (ages 7-8) is $65 (click here --> Register Online) or click the Register link at the top of the page. Payment can be completed via Paypal prior to logging out of the registration process. Payment may also be made by presenting a check made payable to MAA at your team's first practice.
If your household does not have the capability of registering online, please contact John Franklin at 804-307-7944.
If you have not previously established an electronic account with MAA, you will be asked to register your email address. After you have received your password, please complete your family's MAA profile.
For those of you who already have an electronic account with MAA, please update any changes to your email address or phone numbers.
Midlothian will also be able to accept players from the following school districts for the 2017-18 season: Beulah, Bensley, Chalkley, Crestwood, Enon, Ettrick, Falling Creek, Providence, Scott, Harrowgate, Ecoff, Curtis, Bellwood, Winterpock and Reams. We can also accept players from other Chesterfield County schools that don't have athletic associations.
These will need to be turned in during our open gym dates or at the first practice. You will receive an email updating you as to the time and location of the open gyms if we have any.
Players who have not played in the Chesterfield Girls Basketball League in prior seasons will also need to provide a copy of their birth certificate during practice nights. These copies will be destroyed by the league once they are verified.

Practices will likely begin on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Midlo Middle (we have had Tuesdays at Midlo Middle for the last several years, but the calendar hasn't been released yet). We will have younger teams practice during the earliest slots (exacts times TBD based on registrations).
Games for all age groups will likely start the weekend of December 15-17. The format for that first weekend is planned to be a double elimination tourney format to kick off the season (these games won't count in the regular season standings.) League play where records will be kept begins the first weekend in January (games can be on Friday nights, Saturdays and/or Sundays - often multiple games per weekend). Expect 9-10 regular season games. Post-season play generally runs from mid-February til early March, depending on division.
John Franklin is the voting representative for MAA. Keep checking this page for further updates. If you have any questions please feel free to contact John via email at email@example.com, or on his cell at 804-307-7944. We will do our best to place the girls on teams that they choose in their age group, but no assurances can be made in this regard. We generally try to keep rosters at a maximum size of 10 girls in order to maximize playing time for all of the girls. If we can't fill a roster with registered girls, we will work with families to find another association for them to play.
